The admissions process
Grade 8 admissions for 2026 will be announced soon. To apply to our School, you need to follow the GDE online application process at (https://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za/).
Register and complete a profile for the learner, capture the required Grade 7 academic marks, upload all of the required documentation, select Schools of Specialisation / Focus Schools and then UJ Academy.
Once submission has been completed successfully, should parents visit the school as soon as possible to complete the enrolment process.
Please note that the UJ Academy is not an area based school. Successful enrolment is based on the outcome of a mandatory aptitude test.
Documentation Required
Copies of final grade 6 and grade 7 term 1 report
Certified copies of the child’s birth certificate
Certified copies of both Parents / Guardians ID’s
Online application number as well as proof of application (SMS)
A recent ID photo of the learner
A Note for Admission to prospective Grade 8’s
Admission to our school is dependent on an aptitude test conducted by independent accredited educational psychologists. This test assesses learner’s aptitude for Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
The aptitude test for 2026 will be charged at a rate of R300.00 per learner per test. Once all documents and payment is submitted, will a test date be confirmed. Our school has limited space and parents must apply to other schools as well.
School fees for the current academic year of 2025 is R10,500.00 per learner.

A Note for Admission to prospective Grade 9 to 11’s:
The UJ Academy opens the application process for prospective Grade 9 to 11 learners based on available space only. All applications received will be placed on a waiting list and will only be considered after the reregistration process for the following academic year has been concluded. When a space becomes available, Parents / Guardians will be notified and the learner will have to write an aptitude test. Once the test results have been reviewed will the placement decision be made. The Application process starts in September and Parents / Guardians are requested to bring the following documents:
